Get Involved

There are many ways to get involved with the Young Activist Club.

Friend Us on Facebook.

Sign Our Petition!

Sign our petition to Dr. Joshua Starr, Superintendent of Montgomery County Public Schools, urging him to support our project to pilot reusable lunch trays instead of wasteful and harmful styrofoam.

Click here to sign the petition, “Stop Wasteful Styrofoam at Our School.”

Take the Pledge to Go Polystyrene-Free!

Whether you are a business or an individual, you can take the pledge to go polystyrene-free for foodservice ware (such as avoiding polystyrene cups, plates, forks, and take-out containers).

Business owners/managers, click here to sign the pledge, “No Polystyrene Foodservice Ware Pledge for Businesses.”

Individuals, click here to sign the pledge, “No Polystyrene Pledge for Individuals.”

School PTAs, please adapt the pledge passed by the Piney Branch Elementary School PTA, available here. If you do, please send us an email and let us know!

Volunteer or Intern

We are always looking for volunteers to help us! Do you have connections with elected officials or local, state (Maryland), and federal agencies such as the US Food and Drug Administration? Can you help us with media, our web site, or video production? Can you help us document the health impacts of polystyrene? Do you like working with kids? We provide volunteer and internship opportunities that can be on a one-time, long-term, regular/recurring, or on an as-needed basis. Just let us know what works with your schedule, interests, and skill sets and we’ll find the right job for you!
